Real story turns conceptual
A friend of ours is a boat-builder and avid sailor and has some really awesome stories from his adventures at sea. The original idea for this video was to get him to share one particular story to illustrate the theme of control vs faith. It ended up being tricky to marry the story and the concept in a short video, so we decided instead to explore the same theme conceptually, juxtaposing the boat builder with a dancer who seems to be dancing underwater. This was a fun shoot. We blacked out a basketball stadium with black plastic and with smokehaze, two lights and a data projector managed to simulate an underwater environment.
