In 1843, a French wine merchant named Placide Cappeau penned the words to the poem "Minuet, Chr├ętiens." His words became the inspiration for the popular Christmas Carol "O Holy Night."

Discovering the French Poem

"O Holy Night" is a popularly sung Christmas song each holiday season. Recognizing that its lyrics naturally present the hope of the gospel, CV North America set out to make a Christmas video driven by the famous melody. In the process, they discovered some of its fascinating history. The song is based off a French poem from the 1800s, and the English translation of that poem became the script for the final video.
